New job!

I finally found a new job :) I'm going to work in costumer support. I'll have a training in the week of September 10th and will start working the week after that. It's not my dreamjob, but I'm so glad that I can quit my job as a mailwoman! The work is mind killing.

Now I have to write a resignation letter. I've never done that before. In the past I just packed up my stuff and left. I have no idea what to say or what the tone of the letter should be. The people I'm writing it to are more my friends than my supervisors. It feels just kind of weird, you know?

One of them called today and I told him "I'm leaving you." He knew it was coming because he was kind enough to put in a good word for me as a reference for the temp agency. And he said "Aww.. but we've been going steady for so long!"

Yeah, it would have been four years in December. I'm really sad to leave my co-workers and very much hoping that I made the right decision.

The city stays awake
Two lovers under a stairwell
Right on the edge
And the dream's been ripped off

Two weeks? Ha! I have a month notice, and then it has to be at the start of the month as well.. so the earliest I can quit is officially october 1st! Insane isn't it? But somehow I managed to save two months of payed leave (no idea how that happened, I took at least 3 weeks off for vacation every year) so I'm going to use that so I can leave sooner.

A month notice is the standard over here, but I once met a lady who worked at an office who had a 10 month notice... wtf, right? How would she ever be able to switch over to another job. No idea what her position was, I just ran into her down the hall when I had the lovely task to fill up coffee machines. (end rant)

I usually just disappeared when I wanted to quit jobs, stopped showing up and didn't pick up the phone. It works like a charm! But now that I've grown up (a little) I just want to do stuff right so I won't get into trouble if someone checks my references in the future.

WOW!!! 1 month?! thats such a long time to think about. i can see where it would make switching jobs hard; especially 10 months!! i guess it does make it on easier on the work place though, finding a replacement for someone leaving in a month is a lot easier then finding and training someone in 2 weeks.
