Tantrums

So I love Casper to death and he's my everything.. BUT he can be such a little devil! Everytime I want him to leave a room that he is not allowed in (kitchen, our bedroom because the computer is there and he pulls the cords) or when I tell him to give me the remote or my phone when he gets his hands on them, he has massive tantrums.

So I let him cry but then after 30 seconds I feel like I should pick him up and comfort him because I feel like a horrible mom. Am I turning him into a spoilled bratt??

i'm on the fence about stuff like that. its so hard when their little faces are so sad, but if you dont put your foot down, they'll learn how to get exactly what they want. :/

but after you comfort him, are you letting him go back to what he was doing / wanting to do or is he distracted to something else? i think as long as you're being definite about what you say and following through, its exactly what you should be doing!

So meet me in Georgia
Make sure you're not late
Under hillside and skyline
The city stays awake
Two lovers under a stairwell
Right on the edge
And the dream's been ripped off
Just like her dress

Usually after I comfort him he's distracted and we go do something else. If he isn't comforted he just keeps on screaming and crying.. it's like looking at myself when I was a kid, which makes me feel guilty towards my own parents now. LOL

haha!! thats what i hear from all my friends with kids; it makes them wonder what all they did to their own parents. but that sounds like what you're supposed to do! you're keeping firm but calming him down. sounds like great parenting to me! :D

i have some friends who just let their daughter do basically whatever she wants cause they'd rather not listen to her scream. um, what? just wait until she gets older and starts making more demands!! ughhhhh
